Located in the south of the Tyrol region in the western Dolomites, Alpe di Siusi - Sciliar ski resort has beautiful unequalled landscapes and is one of the most characteristic resorts of the Dolomites. With the distinction of being Europe’s highest Alpine resort and having excellent childcare, Alpe di Siusi - Sciliar is a super ski destination.
Alpe di Siusi - Sciliar resort is served by the three Alpine villages of Castelrotto, Siusi and Fie allo Sciliar. Castelrotto is the largest and has the most character, boasting a historical village square in beautiful wooded surroundings. Siusi and Fie allo Sciliar are equally picturesque, with first rate facilities and a variety of shops.
There are over 100 hotels, as well as pensions-chalets, apartments and private homes, in the three villages. Cafés and restaurants are in abundance, especially in Fie allo Sciliar, which is also renowned for its fine dining and après-ski activities and facilities. There are several bars and discos to choose from, and a ski kindergarten is also on hand.
Alpe di Siusi - Sciliar ski resort has 70kms of downhill slopes, with an emphasis on beginners and intermediate skiers and snowboarders, but it also caters for the more advanced, and prides itself on its special on-slope childcare. There are 24 ski lifts, featuring chairlifts and draglifts, with an hourly capacity for 23,000 people.
For alternative skiing, the Dolomite Super Ski Pass encompasses other resorts in 12 valleys in the region and is the biggest ski circuit in the world, with over a thousand ski runs and 464 cableways and lifts. Off the slopes, the nearby Schlern Nature Park features beautiful lakes, forests and mountains.
The ski season at Alpe di Siusi runs from December to April, with peak times over the Christmas, New Year and Easter holidays. The most convenient way to get here is to fly to Milan or Venice, and then on to Bolzano, from where buses go to the villages.
