Calabogie Ski and Snowboard Resort, Canada

Calabogie Peaks is a year round recreational facility offering a broad range of ski runs for novices and experts in the winter months. Located on the shores of Calabogie Lake (Dickson Mountain) in the heart of the Ottawa Valley, just west of Canada’s capital city, Calabogie ski resort also has the distinction of having the highest vertical drop in eastern Ontario and the longest beginner run.

The early 19th century village of Calabogie is a thriving community and a magnetic tourist destination. The resort itself features a full service snow school with comprehensive lessons at all levels for everyone, a full service rental centre, and a ski sports boutique. Childcare facilities are also available.

Accommodation at the resort consists of villa style lodging and a cosy country inn at Dickson Manor, with 25 individual suites and rooms, while many more beds are available in the village. Full spa facilities are available at Dickson Manor, as well as a commendable restaurant, and for après-ski entertainment, head for the Black Donalds Pub.

Dickson Mountain boasts a vertical drop of 230m and 20 pistes that stretch across beginner to expert terrain; the longest run is two kilometres. Three draglifts and a chairlift, with an hourly capacity for 6,300 people, reach heights of 386m and provide access to all slopes. Calabogie ski resort also has an excellent terrain park for boarders as well as boarding on all pistes.

Alternatively, away from the slopes, dozens of pristine lakes provide a haven for fishermen and nature lovers alike; while Ottawa is only a short drive to the east. One of the most beautiful G8 capitals in the world, Ottawa is rich in culture and heritage, with its many national institutions, parklands, waterways and historic architecture.

The ski season at Calabogie ski resort runs from December to April (open 09:00 to 16:00) and the most convenient means for getting here is to fly to Ottawa International Airport and take a bus transfer, or hire a car.
