Conveniently located just to the east of Salt Lake City, Deer Valley is one of the most exclusive and upscale resorts in the country, offering superb facilities and lots of pampering. This snowboard-free resort hosted the 2002 Winter Olympics and is spread over a huge ski domain of four mountains, with immaculately groomed pistes and limited congestion.
Deer Valley is a comfortable resort where the emphasis is on attention to detail, and it is only a few kilometres from the historic mining town of Park City. Full day childcare is available for children aged two to 12 years.
Much of the accommodation at Deer Valley is in stunning, high quality, slope-side lodges, and award-winning cuisine can be had in a variety of exquisite eateries. Après-ski at the resort is mainly in the hotels and The Lounge, which features live music on weekends; while Park City has extensive nightlife options.
Deer Valley boasts a staggering 88 slopes consisting of extensive tree-skiing and challenging off-piste for experts, as well as plenty of intermediate and easy terrain. Nineteen lifts have an hourly capacity of 40,000 skiers and reach heights of 2,917m (Empire Canyon) and stretch over a 900-metre vertical. The longest slope at Deer Valley is three kilometres.
Deer Valley ski resort is one of three resorts around Park City, and for alternative skiing, head for Park City Mountain Resort or the Canyons; while farther west are the Little Cottonwood Canyon resorts of Alta and Snowbird. Salt Lake City offers some interesting sightseeing for a day out.
Deer Valley’s ski season runs from early December to mid-April, and there are cheaper rates at the beginning and towards the end of the season. The most convenient travel option is to fly to Salt Lake City and transfer by shuttle bus.
