Located above Lake Ontario to the northeast of Toronto, near the southwest gate of the Kawartha Lakes, Devil’s Elbow ski resort offers a variety of fine, tree-lined ski and snowboard runs for novices, intermediates and experts alike.
Facilities at the resort include parking for a thousand cars, first-aid and a day lodge providing all the conveniences in a relaxing atmosphere. A ski school provides classes for the whole family, including snowboarding and junior racing programs.
Accommodation-wise, nearby Bethany has a limited supply of beds in hotels and bed-and-breakfasts, while the nearest town of Peterborough has all the conveniences and facilities you could need. At Devil’s Elbow resort, Falcon Foods is a full service cafeteria offering a wide variety of hot and cold foods, but for dining out and après-ski, head for Bethany and Peterborough.
Devil’s Elbow has a selection of 11 runs, rated from beginner to expert, that have been shaped from beautiful sheltered cedar and hardwood forests. Six lift systems, comprising four quads and two double chairlifts, have an hourly capacity for 11,400 people and provide access to all pistes, the longest of which is 760m. Snow cannons guarantee good skiing conditions throughout the season.
Away from the slopes, the nearby beautiful Kawartha Lakes region is a system of 250 lakes and waterways interspersed by many historical attractions. Activities here include hiking and cycling and, of course, boating. Peterborough also offers an interesting day out and Toronto is only a short drive away.
The ski season at Devil’s Elbow ski resort runs from December to March (open 09:00 to 16:30) and children less than five years of age ski for free. The most convenient means for getting here is to fly to Toronto and take the ski bus to the resort.
