Located in the Lake Tahoe region on the California-Nevada border, Diamond Peak offers skiing and snowboarding to those of all abilities. Since the resort is essentially family-run, the atmosphere is overtly friendly and welcoming to large groups and individual holidaymakers alike.
Incline Village, the nearest settlement to Diamond Peak, boasts amazing 360-degree views of Lake Tahoe and Sierra Nevada. Though small, it is a thriving tourist destination offering a range of attractions and serves those seeking summer as well as winter vacations.
The area offers a variety of accommodation possibilities ranging from hotels and inns to condos and estates. Besides the lodgings available in Incline Village, there is also accommodation in Lake Tahoe and Reno. The Hyatt Hotel in Incline Village is a popular choice and is renowned for its great food and in-house casino.
Of the resort’s 30 named trails, 18 per cent are for beginners, 46 per cent are for intermediates, and 36 per cent are for advanced for skiers. There is a longest run of four kilometres, plus open glades, tree-skiing areas and a recently built terrain park, known as the Snowbomb. The resort’s seven lifts have a capacity for 7,900 people per hour and boast an average waiting time of three minutes.
Away from the slopes, visit nearby Carson City, which features the Nevada Mining Museum and Mint. Alternatively, Incline Village offers a multitude of entertainments including: bowling, golf, tennis, racquetball, basketball, a fitness centre, gym, shuffleboard, miniature golf, fishing and horseback riding.
Diamond Peak’s peak ski periods are December 24 through January 2, January 15 through January 17, and February 19 through February 25. The most convenient way to get here is to fly to Reno-Tahoe International Airport and transfer by shuttle bus or hire car.
