Ice-skating, tobogganing and swimming are part of the plethora of non-ski activities on offer at Geilo, while cafés and restaurants are plentiful. Additionally, there are a number of lively après-ski venues.

The slopes at Geilo ski resort cater to all skill levels, with an emphasis on intermediate and advanced skiers and snowboarders. There are 36 downhill runs to choose from, the longest of which is two kilometres, and access to every piste is provided by 19 chair and surface lift systems.

Nearby, Hemsedal offers alternative skiing in an idyllic mountain setting and has a longest piste of six kilometres. The Hardangervidda (northern Europe’s largest mountain plateau), and some of Norway’s most spectacular fjords are also nearby and offer an excellent opportunity for sightseeing away from the slopes.

The ski season at Geilo ski resort runs from November to May and there are special rates in mid-December and from early January to early February. The most convenient means of travel to Geilo is to fly to Oslo or Bergen and transfer by train to the resort.
