Kvitfjell Ski and Snowboard Resort, Norway

Located to the north of Oslo, in east Oppland, Kvitfjell ski resort is situated in an area of Norway known as Troll Park and is particularly popular with experienced skiers and snowboarders. A fairly small resort, Kvitfjell has a variety of uncrowded slopes and a huge range of excellent cross-country trails.

Kvitfjell is a very modern resort and the village is well-equipped with modern facilities and a range of hotels, apartments and cabins. Non-ski activities include telemarking and sleigh rides, and there is a good selection of eateries, while several bars and nightclubs make up the vibrant après-ski.

Kvitfjell ski resort has 18 slopes, only three of which are for beginners, meaning a high amount of intermediate to expert terrain for the experienced. Seven lift systems provide access to all pistes, the longest of which is 3.5kms. The big lure of Kvitfjell is its 400kms of superb cross-country trails, which wind through incredible scenery.

For alternative skiing, nearby Hafjell ski resort offers a larger range of beginner slopes and a seven-kilometre long main run. Norway’s oldest winter sports resort, Lillehammer, is just south of Hafjell and has some great shopping and a huge range of amenities. Good cross-country daytrips can be had along the trails to Skeikampen and to Fagerhoy.

The long ski season at Kvitfjell ski resort runs from mid-November to mid-April and the most convenient way to get here is to fly to Oslo and take a train to the resort.
