Located in the south of the Languedoc-Roussillon province of France, in the Pyrenees, north east facing Les Angles is the area's largest and most advanced ski resort, with more than half of all pistes rated intermediate. Surrounded by forests and lakes, Les Angles is a tribute to the winter sports scene, and visitors only pay for the time spent on their skis.

Situated at 1,600m above sea level and surrounded by lakes and forests, Les Angles is an enchanting village with great facilities, making it ideal for family ski holidays. Shopping services are top-rate and there are a number of fashionable boutiques and ski-sport stores.

There is a wide variety of accommodation in Les Angles, ranging from two- to four-star hotels, to pensions and private apartments. Le Panoramic Residence Hotel has rooms for up to six persons and boasts every conceivable amenity. Les Angles' après-ski activities and nightlife are infused with the pace and warmth of Catalonia, offering a multitude of restaurants and bars. Ski kindergartens are also available.

Les Angles is a good family resort with good beginner and intermediate runs, and also features runs suitable for experienced skiers. Les Angles offers the visitor 32 quality pistes, measuring 40kms in length. There are 26 ski lifts with suitable for up to 19,000 skiers every hour. In addition, 255 snowmaking guns guarantee skiing on much of the field.

For alternative skiing, head to the nearby resorts of Formigueres (5km away) and Font-Romeu. Discover some Pyrenean wildlife, including bears and warthogs, at the Des Angles animal park which has two circuits: one at 3,500m in length, and the other at 1,500m.

The provincial city of Mont-Louis is 12kms south along route D-32 and, also at 1600m above sea level, it is a claimant to the title of the highest fortified town in France; the fortress here dates from 1690.

Les Angles is a year round resort with skiing available usually from December to April; the cheapest weeks are offered up to the Christmas holidays and New Year, and from mid-March. The simplest way into Les Angles is to fly to Perpignan, take a train to Mont Louis from Perpignan train station, and then catch a shuttle to the resort.
