Madonna di Campiglio is one of Italy’s most exclusive ski resorts, lying in a lush setting of forests and lakes, completely surrounded by the striking Brenta Dolomites. There is a variety of skiing for all levels, and Madonna di Campiglio ski resort is the venue for many snowboarding events, attracting a large young contingent.
Madonna di Campiglio is a traditional mountain resort town with a contemporary look and a special ambience. The facilities here are excellent and more in common with a purpose-built ski resort. There is a wide variety of shops, fashionable boutiques and first-aid.
Madonna’s 27,000 beds are mainly in apartments and modern hotels, and there is also a choice of traditional wooden chalets. Ice-skating and squash are among the non-skiing activities available, and quality eateries supplement a vibrant après-ski scene of dozens of pubs, bars and discos.
Beginners and intermediates have most of the 60kms of pistes at Madonna di Campiglio, with more challenging terrain available off-piste for advanced skiers and snowboarders. The longest run is seven kilometres and 20 lift systems operate over a vertical descent of over 1,000m, to supply all pistes.
For alternative skiing, Madonna di Campiglio ski resort is linked with the smaller Folgarida and Marilleva. Also nearby is Val di Genova ski resort, which is renowned for its scenic beauty as well as its superb skiing. Away from the slopes, the medieval market town of Trento is unmistakably Italian and has some interesting sightseeing.
The Madonna di Campiglio ski season runs from December to April and special rates are available pre-Christmas holidays, and towards the end of the season. Bolzano Airport offers the most convenient point of entry from the air; the Skibus goes to the resort from here.
