Mont Olympia is one of the Saint-Sauveur-des-monts resorts, located in the spectacular Saint-Sauveur Valley, northwest of Montréal. Mont Olympia is predominantly a family resort where skiing or snowboarding is extremely safe, with pistes suitable for the young and old, both novices and experts alike.
Facilities-wise, Mont Olympia is very similar to its neighbour, Mont Avila, in that services are limited to a ski school, ski sports shop and lodge with accommodation and restaurant. Saint-Sauveur has a much wider choice of accommodation as well as a lively, but casual après-ski scene.
There are an impressive 23 runs at Mont Olympia, the majority of which are for beginners, and the longest (Baqueira Beret) is 1.375kms. Six chairlifts, featuring two quadruple chairs, one triple chair, one magic carpet and two double T-bars, have an hourly uplift capacity for 8,000 people and run over a 200m vertical to supply all pistes.
For alternative skiing, the other resorts in the Saint-Sauveur Valley include Mont Avila, Mont Saint-Sauveur, Ski Mont Gabriel and Ski Morin Heights, while to the north is the famed Mont Tremblant ski region with its huge vertical and the equally impressive Mont Blanc. Montréal is well worth a visit, being only a 45-minute drive and boasting many attractions.
Mont Olympia’s ski season extends from mid-December to mid-April and is best accessed by flying to Montréal’s Dorval Airport and transfering by coach to Saint-Sauveur, from where buses and taxis go to the resort.
