Mont Orford Ski and Snowboard Resort, Canada

Located in the eastern townships of Québec, Orford boasts one of the highest vertical drops in eastern Canada and is known for its long trails and tight tree skiing. Snowboarding is available on all pistes and there are also two terrain parks and a half-pipe.

Mont Orford has commendable facilities with ski-in/ski-out accessibility, ski sports and rental shops, ski tuition, a teenagers’ meeting place, first-aid and childcare facilities. If you’re staying in nearby Magog, the Magog-Orford Trolley Bus is an ideal mode of transportation between the village and the resort.

Accommodation-wise, there are hotels, bed-and-breakfasts and several condominiums at the base of the mountain available for rent; while nearby Magog has a greater range. Non-ski activities include ice-skating, swimming and tennis, and there are several cafés, restaurants and bars for après-ski.

There are 54 pistes to choose from at Mont Orford ski resort, with runs to suit beginners, intermediates and experts alike. Mont Orford was the first resort in North America to introduce a high-capacity detachable hybrid gondola, able to carry 2,400 people per hour. In addition, there are a further seven lift systems with an hourly capacity for 9,000 people.

Away from the slopes, the countryside around the Magog-Orford region is beautiful and there are plenty of restaurants and craft boutiques to enjoy; Vermont and New Hampshire (USA) are only a short drive to the south and southeast, respectively. Montréal is a cool city and offers endless sightseeing opportunities.

The ski season at Mont Orford runs from December to April, and even when snow conditions are light, 85 per cent of the ski field is within range of a snow cannon. The easiest way to get to Mont Orford is to fly to Montréal and take the coach or hire a car.
