Mont Sainte Anne is a world class resort offering a French atmosphere located near old Québec City. The resort has hosted several national championship events in cross-country and has the highest vertical in Canada for night skiing. Also of special interest to snowboarders is the snowboard park and half-pipe.
The resort area is fairly quiet but comes with all modern facilities and services, including: a dynamic and avant-garde ski and snowboard school offering private and group lessons for beginners to expert skiers and snowboarders, excellent childcare for children from the age of six months and a selection of shops.
Mont Sainte Anne offers a range of hotels, bed-and-breakfasts and condos, as well as 26 restaurants, including nine on the mountain, serving everything from traditional French fare to American cuisine and fast-food. There are also a handful of bars to make up the après-ski. For a greater choice of accommodation and après-ski, head for nearby Québec.
Most of the 56 trails at Mont-Saint-Anne are given over to intermediate level skiers and snowboarders; while the expert terrain is on the south face, and novice slopes are on the north and west faces. Thirteen lifts have an uplift capacity of 18,500 people per hour and run over a vertical of over 600m to supply all pistes, the longest of which is 5.8kms.
Away from the slopes, Ile d'Orléans, with its maple groves, orchards, farms and old houses, offers an interesting day out. If you have more time available, you can also explore the Charlevoix region or take the ferry over to St Lawrence's southern bank and discover quaint towns and villages.
The long ski season at Mont Sainte Anne runs from November to April, and the resort is open Monday through Friday from 09:00 to 15:45, and Saturday and Sunday from 08:30 to 15:45. The easiest way to get here is to fly to Québec City and transfer by bus, limo/taxi or hire car.
