The biggest ski resort in eastern Canada, Mont Tremblant is set in the Laurentian Mountains, north of Montréal, and offers something for skiers and snowboarders of all levels. Snowboarders and extreme skiers also have access to Gravity Park, featuring the highest half-pipe in eastern North America. Additionally, there are some superb cross-country trails.
Mont Tremblant’s attractive traditional-style, ski-in/ski-out pedestrian village is nestled at the base of the mountain on beautiful Lake Tremblant. It is colourful and atmospheric, with a distinctly French feel, and boasts 45 shops selling everything from perfume and clothing to books and art.
A number of quality hotels are available, as well as first rate condos for rent; while off-snow activities feature snowshoeing and swimming. There is a wide variety of eating establishments serving French, Italian, Savoyard, Japanese and Mexican cuisines, and a good selection of bars to keep everyone happy. Children are also well looked after at the Kidz Club.
Mont Tremblant has a total of 92 trails covering 79kms of varied terrain, with good nursery slopes, excellent tree-lined intermediate runs and 40kms of expert slopes. The longest run is the Nansen, a 5.2-kilometre beginner piste; while the steepest run, known as the Dynamite, is ideal for thrill-seekers. Eleven lifts provide access for up to 25,000 people per hour.
Alternatively, there are 18 other ski centres in the region, with scores of trails at every level of difficulty. Nearby Cantons-de-l'Est, known as the Eastern Townships, is blessed with a trio of memorable country inns on beautiful Lake Massawippi; while cosmopolitan Montréal has a wealth of historical and cultural attractions.
The ski season at Mont Tremblant ski resort runs from December to April and the most convenient means for getting here is to fly to Montréal’s Dorval Airport and transfer by limo, taxi or bus.
