Pra Loup Ski and Snowboard Resort, France

Located in the southern area of the Alpes de Haute Provence, Pra Loup is made up of two satellites, 1500 and 1600, and one of its biggest attractions is its good value. Pra Loup shares its ski area with Foux d'Allos to offer a large ski and snowboard region and, in addition, there is great off-piste.

Set on the edge of Mercantour National Park, Pra Loup is a friendly, laid-back resort village that blends traditional chalets and stone houses with spectacular surroundings. This charming resort has a wonderful relaxing atmosphere and features a range of modern facilities, including shops and ski schools for children.

Hotels and apartments provide the majority of accommodation and there is also a choice of bed-and-breakfasts, chalets and mountain huts. Other non-ski activities include tobogganing and snowshoeing, and there are dozens of cafés, restaurants and bars that make up the moderate to lively nightlife.

Most of Pra Loup’s 73 runs, spread over 167kms of terrain, are ideal for beginners and intermediates who will enjoy great scenery and tree-lined pistes down to the resort. Fifty-three lifts, featuring four cable cars, 11 chairlifts, 36 ski tows and two funicular railways, provide access to all pistes. Additionally, there are numerous snow machines, along with good off-piste, ensuring fantastic skiing and snowboarding for the expert.

The ski season at Pra Loup ski resort runs from December to April and there are special offers in mid-December, January and towards the season’s end. The most practical way to get to Pra Loup is to fly to Marseilles and take a train to Gap, from where buses go to the resort.
