Red Lodge Mountain Ski and Snowboard Resort, USA

Located just to the north of the Wyoming border in the south of Montana, Red Lodge Mountain ski resort is set in beautiful cattle country and boasts well-groomed and uncrowded slopes, modern facilities, clean mountain air, awe-inspiring vistas, and a free-ride park for snowboarders.

Services and facilities at the resort are extensive, with a ski accessory and gift shop, complete rental shop, state licensed day care for toddlers (ages six months to four years), and a ski school with lesson packages for skiers ages three years and up (beginners to experts).

For sustenance, there are four café/restaurants (two located at the base, one in the middle and one at the top of the mountain), as well as an espresso shop and a couple of bars. The nearby historic village of Red Lodge provides a range of hotels, condos and guest homes, as well as unique shops, fine dining and a great nightlife. Red Lodge also offers a variety of family-oriented activities.

Red Lodge Mountain ski resort boasts 71 groomed slopes, comprising easy gladed and tree-lined runs, and extreme chute skiing and snowboarding. The longest run is known as Lazy M (four kilometres). Eight lifts, including two high-speed detachable quads, provide the access, with an hourly uplift capacity of 10,690 skiers. The 400-metre-long park attracts skiers and snowboarders alike with its step-ups, tabletops, spines and rails.

Away from the slopes, the roads around Red Lodge Mountain follow valley basins and magnificent ridgelines, and undulate on and around diverse landscapes. Yellowstone National Park lies to the southwest in Wyoming and is loaded with curious landscapes, erupting geysers, crystal clear lakes and meandering creeks; while the town of Billings has modern shopping malls and historic buildings.

The ski season at Red Lodge Mountain ski resort runs from early December to early April (open 09:00 to 16:00), and children under five years and seniors over 70 years ski for free. The most convenient means of travel is to fly to Billings and transfer by hire car.
