Stoneham Ski and Snowboard Resort, Canada

Stoneham ski resort is a picturesque winter escape just minutes north of Québec City, and claims to be the brightest resort in Canada. Located in the heart of the Laurentian range and spread over four mountains, Stoneham also has exceptional night skiing facilities and a fantastic terrain park.

While only a small resort, Stoneham has impressive top-notch facilities and high-quality services. There is a day care centre available for children as well as Children Island, a superb outdoor park where kids can learn the basics of skiing in a fun environment.

Limited accommodation is available at Stoneham ski resort in the form of slope-side and mountain condos and hotels; while nearby Québec City has a plethora of accommodation and après-ski options. Back at the resort, ice-skating is available off the slopes and four restaurants and two bars make up the laid-back après-ski.

There are 30 pistes at Stoneham, with the emphasis on higher-end skiers and snowboarders, and a good complement of beginner runs. Ten lifts, four of which are high-speed quads, have an hourly uplift capacity of 14,200 people and supply all slopes, the longest of which is 3.2kms.

For alternative skiing and snowboarding, Mont-Sainte-Anne, lying northeast of Stoneham resort, has more fantastic pistes to choose from and 200kms of top level cross-country skiing trails. For a daytrip away from the slopes, Québec City lies on the banks of the St Lawrence River and boasts a historic, old European style town and the more modern Basse-Ville.

The ski season at Stoneham ski resort runs from mid-November to mid-April and the resort is open for more than 12 hours every day. The most convenient means for getting here is to fly to Québec City and take a share taxi/limo.
