Sugarbush Ski and Snowboard Resort, USA

Located to the southeast of Burlington in central Vermont, Sugarbush ski resort is divided into two areas – Lincoln Peak and Mount Ellen – New England's highest mountains. This family-friendly resort has excellent snow and boasts exceptional intermediate and expert terrain, and a special family section. Sugarbush also welcomes snowboarders.

Waitsfield is the main resort centre for Sugarbush and has all necessary services and facilities, including ski/sports shops and rental and repair boutiques; while at the resort there is a nursery for infants, first-aid and a clinic.

There are over 2,000 slope-side beds at Sugarbush, including the slope-side Grand Summit Hotel, and a further 7,000 beds in 60 nearby motels, hotels and condominiums; overnight camper facilities without hook-ups are also available. Non-ski activities include snowshoeing and snowmobiling, and there are six cafés and a deli at the base, as well as many bars and lounges.

Sugarbush has 115 slopes that run over 50kms of terrain, most of which have an intermediate and advanced rating, and the longest run is 4.8kms. Twenty lifts provide access to the pistes and have an uplift capacity of over 24,000 people per hour.

For alternative skiing, Sugarbush offers a ‘Ski the Valley’ pass, offering guests who stay three nights or more the opportunity to ski both Sugarbush and neighbouring Mad River Glen, where the extreme skiing and even the beginner terrain are tough.

The ski season at Sugarbush ski resort runs from November to May, and children ages five years and under ski for free. The most convenient means of transportation is to fly to Burlington International Airport and transfer by shuttle bus or hire car; many hotels offer free transport.
