Vallee Bleue Ski and Snowboard Resort, USA

Located in the Laurentian Mountains, north of Montréal, Vallee Bleue is predominantly a family ski resort renowned for its excellent ski school and teaching methods. Amateurs and experts alike have a wide variety of choice, and there is also snowboarding on all pistes as well as a snow park.

Vallee Bleue was opened in 1963 and is a family-owned company, hence the emphasis on family values. Facilities-wise, there is a boutique and rental shop, the superb ski school (mainly aimed at children), and childcare facilities.

The nearest settlement with adequate services and accommodation is Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts (west), with its variety of year round outdoor activities, and the magnificent Lac des Sables, located in the heart of the town. There is a variety of lodging facilities, shops and boutiques, as well as plenty of restaurants and bars in which to enjoy the après-ski.

Vallee Bleue has 17 trails that are fed by four lift systems, including a poma, a carpet lift, a triple chairlift and a quad. The total hourly uplift capacity is 5,850 people, and the longest run is just over one kilometre. In addition, 60 per cent of the ski domain is covered by snow cannons.

For alternative skiing and snowboarding, Mont Tremblant and Mont Blanc, with their huge verticals, lie to the north, and the Saint-Sauveur-des-Monts resorts are to the south. The century-old town of Saint-Sauveur has some interesting sightseeing and plenty of activities available; while bustling Montréal is only a short drive away.

Vallee Bleue ski resort’s season runs from mid-November to mid-April and the resort is open daily from 09:00 to 16:00; seniors and children receive discounts. The most convenient way to get here is to fly to Montréal-Dorval Airport and take a taxi or bus to the resort.
