Situated in the southwest of Norway, on the imposing Mount Hangur, Voss ski resort is surrounded by beautiful mountains and fjords and is located one hour from Bergen. Skiing and snowboarding is on uncrowded slopes and for all levels, and there is a host of activities available for the non-skier.
Voss is a traditional Norwegian mountain town, featuring old smoking houses and ancient local dishes, and is situated on the edge of a picturesque lake surrounded by breathtaking scenery. Despite being an old town, Voss has commendable facilities and amenities.
There is a great range of accommodation, from luxury hotels to pensions, apartments, mountain lodges and camping cabins and there are plenty of exciting activities for non-skiers. Dozens of restaurants and cafés serve traditional Norwegian fare and international cuisine, while the nightlife is provided by numerous expensive pubs and bars.
There are 11 pistes spread over 40kms of varied terrain that is mainly suited to intermediates. Advanced skiers have limited choices, apart from some off-piste and three black runs. Ten lift systems can carry up to 8,500 people per hour and serve all pistes, the longest of which is six kilometres.
Voss is conveniently located near to two of Norway’s most renowned fjords, the Sogne and Hardanger, which offer fantastic sightseeing excursions. Bergen is a picturesque city with colourful well preserved wooden buildings and a lively fish market. The funicular to Floyen affords a stunning view over the city and its seven fjords.
The ski season at Voss ski resort runs from late November to early May and the most convenient means of getting here is to fly to nearby Bergen and hire a car, or transfer by bus from the city.
