Located to the north of Bozeman in southwestern Montana, family-friendly Bridger Bowl is known for its extreme skiing and very reasonable prices. A non-profit ski area, Bridger Bowl is highly regarded for its diverse terrain, array of runs, and most notably for its ridge skiing.
Bridger Bowl has a great small town atmosphere, and there is a single base lodge with essential facilities and amenities, including a ski and snowboard rental shop, retail shop, and a ski school. Childcare is also available for children from 18 months to six years. Bozeman has many shops, galleries and museums.
Accommodation-wise, there are two lodges offering dining and bars at Bridger Bowl ski resort: one at the base and one mid-mountain. For more variety, Bozeman has several bed-and-breakfasts and guesthouses, fine dining options and a fairly lively nightlife with a good selection of bars and pubs.
There are 69 trails at Bridger Bowl resort, spread over a large ski domain. Every level of skier and snowboarder is catered for, while experts have the awesome steeps and chutes of the Ridge. Seven lifts provide access to the slopes, the longest of which is nearly five kilometres.
For alternative skiing and snowboarding, Big Sky resort lies about an hour south of Bridger Bowl and boasts a huge vertical drop, chutes and extreme pitches, and is spread over three peaks. Away from the slopes, Yellowstone National Park certainly deserves a visit, especially if you’re interested in geothermal activity.
The ski season at Bridger Bowl resort runs from mid-December to April, and children under six years and seniors over 71 ski for free. The most convenient travel option is to fly to nearby Gallatin Field Airport, via Denver or LA, and transfer to Bridger Bowl resort by shuttle bus or taxi.
