Getting to Altopiano, Italy for your Skiing and Snowboarding Holiday

Located 60kms southeast of Trento and 120kms northwest of Venice, Altopiano di Asiago 7 Comuni ski resort is only directly accessible by road. International rail travel between London and Vicenza (near Asiago) is possible and self-drive is also feasible. The most practical option is to fly to Venice and transfer by train/bus.

The nearest major airport is Venice-Marco Polo (located on the mainland, near Mestre). There are regular shuttles to Mestre train station, from where a regular service goes to Vicenza. Buses go from Vicenza to Asiago and the other villages all day. Verona Airport is an alternative, but it receives fewer flight options than Venice-Marco Polo Airport.

Travelling by car from the UK is the least attractive option, due to the distances involved and the inevitable cost of fuel and tolls. However, Altopiano di Asiago is close to the A-22/E-5 autostrada (motorway), part of the European motorway network, making long distance driving more straightforward.

From Calais, the quickest route to the resort goes via Reims, Strasbourg, Basel, Lucerne, Milan and Vicenza. From here, take the A-31 (north) leading on to the SS-349 for Asiago (1,350kms; 12 hours plus). From Venice-Marco Polo Airport, Altopiano di Asiago 7 Comuni ski resort is accessible along the A-4 to Vicenza and the A-31/SS-349 to Asiago (130kms; 1 hour, 30 minutes).

By train from the UK, Eurostar trains go to Paris all day from Waterloo station. High-speed trains then run to Milan, from where there are regular connections with Vicenza; buses run on to Asiago from here. Eurolines buses also run to and from Vicenza and other major Italian cities from all over Europe.
