Andermatt is in central Switzerland just north of the St Gotthard Pass and is easily accessible by rail. To arrive at the resort with the least fuss, catch a flight from the UK to Zürich International Airport and travel by train to the station at the resort. Alternatively, fly to Lucerne Domestic Airport via Zürich from the UK and then travel by bus or hire vehicle to the resort itself. Many visitors choose to travel on a package deal which usually pre-arranges all transport to the resort.
The nearest international airport to Andermatt is Zürich at 117kms from the resort. You can also fly to Lucerne via Zürich and catch a bus or hire a car from the airport to the resort. However, the first choice is by far the easiest and involves the fewest connections. From Zürich, catch a train on the Zürich-Zug-Schwyz-Altdorf-Andermatt line to the resort.
The journey by car to Andermatt is around 857kms from Calais in France (8 hours, 35 minutes). It will cost you a total of €19 for all toll road costs. If you fly to Zürich and choose to hire a vehicle, travel to the town of Zug, take the N4 motorway to Lucerne and then turn on to the N2 which will take you to Andermatt.
By train, you can travel from London to Paris by the Eurostar service which leaves from London Waterloo or Ashford in Kent. From Paris, take the overnight sleeper to Zürich. This journey should take around 13 hours from London in total. From Zürich, there are trains to the resort via the Zürich-Zug-Schwyz-Altdorf-Andermatt line.
