Getting to Arabba, Italy for your Skiing and Snowboarding Holiday

Arabba ski resort is located in Italy’s Belluno province, 75kms north of Belluno and 355kms northeast of Milan. Arabba is only directly accessible by road, and the most convenient way here is to fly to Venice’s Marco Polo Airport and hire a car, but most people take a train/bus transfer. International rail travel is popular and self-drive is also feasible.

The nearest international airport is Venice’s Marco Polo and there are regular shuttles to Mestre train station, from where regular trains go to Belluno. Take a bus from here to Arabba. By hire car, the A-27 autostrada runs from near the airport to Longarbone, from where the SS-251 goes to Arabba (165kms; two hours).

Driving is the least attractive option as Arabba is fairly remote, but if you do decide to drive, the quickest route from Calais goes via Reims, Metz, Strasbourg, Stuttgart, Munich and Innsbruck. From Innsbruck, take the A-13 (Austria) and the A-22 (Italy) south, exiting on to the SS-242 for Arabba ski resort (1,280kms; 12 hours, spread over two days if you’re the sole driver).

Train travel is more convenient than driving, especially with the high-speed connection between Paris and Milan. From London, Eurostar trains run all day to Paris. Trains to Mestre from Milan are numerous, as is the onward Mestre-Belluno connection. The last leg to Arabba from Belluno will involve a local bus or a taxi.
