Getting to Arefjallen, Sweden for your Skiing and Snowboarding Holiday

Arefjallen is located in the north of Sweden and is 620kms from Stockholm. The nearest town is Östersund, 100kms southeast of the resort. The most convenient way to get to the resort is by flying to Östersund via Stockholm, and either hiring a car at the airport or pre-booking transfers to Arefjallen. Alternatively, catch a train direct from Stockholm to the station of Åre, located in the heart of the Arefjallen resort.

The nearest international airport to Arefjallen is in Stockholm, 620kms away. There is also an airport at Östersund which is 100kms northwest of Arefjallen. Fly from the UK to Östersund via Stockholm, and get a hire vehicle from the airport. If driving is an option, a transfer service should be booked in advance from home. If you are flying only to Stockholm, a train service is available direct to the station of Åre, situated in the resort itself.

By car, Arefjällen is 909kms from Newcastle-upon-Tyne in the UK, with a 19-hour journey time. Catch the ferry from Newcastle-upon-Tyne to Hirtshals in Denmark and follow the signs to Frederikshavn in Sweden, then head north to Åre and the resort. If you fly to Stockholm, the resort is around 8 hours, 30 minutes north of the city.

By train, there are various options, including Eurostar travel via Brussels to Sweden. However, the following option has the fewest connections and can be booked with DFDS Seaways for all travel to Gothenburg by train from London. Take the train from London to Newcastle and board the DFDS ferry travelling to Gothenburg. From Gothenburg, take a train to Östersund and on to the station at Åre in the resort itself.
