Getting to Ayas, Italy for your Skiing and Snowboarding Holiday

Ayas Valley is located 100kms north of Turin and just south of the Swiss border, in the western Alps, and is only directly accessible by road. The most convenient way to get to Ayas is to fly to Turin and hire a car, while international rail travel and self-drive are other viable options.

The nearest airport is Turin-Casselle Airport, which receives numerous overseas flights and is only just over an hour away from Ayas by car. Other transfer alternatives include a train journey to Verres (nearest station to Ayas), from where buses go to the resorts, or bus all the way. Milan-Malpensa and Geneva-Cointrin airports are alternatives.

If you’re driving to Ayas from within Italy, the region can be reached by taking the A5 motorway towards Aosta, leading on to the SS-506. If you’re driving from the UK, the quickest route to the Ayas Valley from Calais goes via Reims, Dijon, Geneva (Annemasse) and Aosta. From Aosta, carry on along the A-5/SS-26, exiting on to the SS-506 for the region (1,000kms; 10 hours).

Travelling by rail is efficient and there is a direct overnight express train between Paris and Milan, from where local services go to Verres; Ayas Valley is only a short bus ride from here. There are numerous Paris-bound Eurostar trains from London (Waterloo) every day, taking a little under four hours.
