Getting to Banff Mount Norquay, Canada for your Skiing and Snowboarding Holiday

Banff Mount Norquay resort is located in the south of the Rocky Mountains, 125kms due west of Calgary, and is only directly accessible by car. Banff is well connected to the Canadian highway system via Trans-Canada Highway 1; however, due to its remote location, the easiest way here is to fly to Calgary and take the shuttle bus.

Calgary International Airport is the nearest major airport and is served by major carriers, including Air Canada; there are about four shuttle bus companies available for transfer to Banff, and the Airporter leaves every two hours.

If you’re driving from the airport, head south on highway 2 to intersect with highway 1, west. Continue on highway 1 to Banff and turn right on to Mount Norquay road. If you’re coming from Edmonton, head south on highway 2 to Calgary first and then follow Trans-Canada Highway 1 (430kms; five hours). Banff is over a day’s drive and 850kms along Trans-Canada Highway 1 from Vancouver.

Travelling by rail is not really an option, as the nearest station is 300kms away in Jasper; however, Jasper has rail links with Edmonton and an express bus leaves Jasper five times a week for Banff. Four Greyhound buses arrive in Banff a day, on the Vancouver-Calgary/Calgary-Vancouver route.
