Getting to Banff's Sunshine Village, Canada for your Skiing and Snowboarding Holiday

Sunshine Village ski resort is located 135kms west of Calgary in the south of the Canadian Rocky Mountains, and is easily reached by car from Calgary and Edmonton. Overseas and US travellers should fly to Calgary International Airport and take a shuttle bus or hire a car.

The nearest major airport is Calgary International, with connections to cities worldwide and throughout Canada and the US. The Airporter shuttle bus service leaves the airport every two hours for Banff and its resorts, and there are several other companies operating out of Calgary Airport. Edmonton Municipal Airport is the nearest alternative.

By car from Calgary and the airport, head west along Trans-Canada Highway 1, taking in the towns of Morley and Canmore before arriving in Banff (125kms; 1 hour, 30 minutes). Sunshine Village is about eight kilometres to the west of Banff town. If you’re coming from Edmonton, take highway 2 to Calgary first.

The nearest you can get to Banff by rail is Jasper, about 300kms northwest; however, there are connections between Edmonton and Jasper aboard The Canadian, and a shuttle bus leaves for Banff from Jasper five times a week. Greyhound buses stop in Banff four times a day on the Calgary-Vancouver route.
