Bardonecchia is 90kms west of Turin on the French/Italian border of the southwestern Alps and is accessible by road and rail; additionally, an international airport is nearby. Most people fly to Turin and take the convenient rail transfer option to the resort, while international train travel and self-drive are also popular options.
Turin’s Casselle Airport is the nearest and is conveniently linked to Bardonecchia ski resort, via the city, by rail. If time is of the essence, car hire will get you to the Bardonecchia area in under an hour; follow the A-32, west. Milan Malpensa and Geneva-Cointrin are alternative airports with three-hour transfer times.
Bardonecchia ski resort is serviced by the A-32/E-70 autostrada, which is part of the European motorway network, making self-drive easier. If driving from the UK, the quickest route from Calais goes via Reims, Dijon, Lyon and Chambery. From Chambery, continue along the A-43 through the Frejus Tunnel into Italy and on to Bardonecchia (980kms; ten hours plus).
If travelling by train, there are numerous daily connections from London (Waterloo) to Paris, by Eurostar. The most convenient option from Paris is the direct Milan-bound overnight express, from where there is a regular service to Turin, and on to Bardonecchia.
Eurolines buses run from major centres all over Europe and offer the cheapest option for getting to Bardonecchia ski resort. These buses run to Turin, from where local buses go to the Bardonecchia region.
