Getting to Bequeira, Spain for your Skiing and Snowboarding Holiday

Bequeira – Beret resort’s position in the midst of the Pyrenees is ideal. Many of the ski resort’s visitors are Spanish, although this is largely due to its inaccessibility, as its mountains and gorges render travel by plane or train impossible. However, flights can be taken to Barcelona; from there, the journey can be completed by road.

Barcelona’s international airport is the closest gateway to Bequeira - Beret for international visitors. It receives regular flights from all over Europe, including those of the budget airline Easyjet from the UK, and some from several North American cities. It also acts as a stopover for flights to Asia. Flights are numerous and connections to other Spanish cities depart regularly. However, some visitors from northern Europe fly into Toulouse, 160kms north across the French border.

By car from the provincial centre of Lerida, take the N-230 to Vielha, and then the C-142 east to Bequeira. Whether you approach the resort from Toulouse or Barcelona, the journey to Bequeira by car is a spectacular one, with narrow mountain roads amid spectacular scenery which will take your breath away. Shaggy ponies and long-haired cattle graze by the roadsides and you'll pass through mountain villages where time seems to have stood still for centuries.

The main train station in Barcelona is the Estació Sants. Rail travel in Spain is reliable, fast and reasonably good value. Barcelona is served hourly from Madrid and regularly from other cities and coastal resorts. There are also two trains a day to Nice in southern France and long-distance connections to other European cities. However, Beqeuira is not directly reachable by train and you will have to change to a car or bus in Lerida.
