Getting to Blacktail Mountain, USA for your Skiing and Snowboarding Holiday

Blacktail Mountain ski resort is situated 50kms southwest of Kalispell in northwestern Montana, west of Flathead Lake, and is only directly accessible by car. Due to its remoteness, the best way to get to the Blacktail resort is to fly to Glacier Park International Airport and take a taxi to Kalispell and shuttle bus from there.

The nearest major airport is Glacier Park International, about an hour’s drive north of Blacktail. There are direct flights there from London and other European destinations, and from all over the US. Salt Lake City International Airport is another alternative. Taxis run to the resort from Glacier Park Airport and to Kalispell, from where express shuttle buses run to Blacktail.

If driving from the airport, head south, through Kalispell, and on towards Kila along highway 2, from where Kila road and Browns Meadow road lead to the resort (60kms; one hour). An alternative route goes via Lakeside and Blacktail road. From Missoula, head northwest on I-90 to highway 93, at exit 96. Continue on to Elmo, or Lakeside, from where mountain roads lead to Blacktail (175kms; three hours).

Amtrak offers a daily rail service between Chicago and Seattle stopping at Whitefish, 1 hour, 30 minutes north of Blacktail Mountain ski resort.
