Getting to Cesana Torinese, Italy for your Skiing and Snowboarding Holiday

Located near the French border in the southwestern Italian Alps, 90kms west of Turin, Cesana Torinese ski resort is only directly accessible by road. The quickest way here is to fly to Turin and hire a car, while train/bus transfer is more practical. Rail travel from London to nearby Oulx is popular, while self-drive is fairly arduous.

The nearest airport is Turin’s Casselle Airport and there are regular train departures, via the city, to Oulx (10kms from Cesana Torinese), from where buses go to the resort villages. By hire car, the one-hour journey follows the A-32 (west) to Oulx and heads south on the SS-24. Milan-Malpensa and Geneva-Cointrin are alternative airports, with three-hour transfer times.

Cesana Torinese is near the A-32/E-70 autostrada, which is part of the European motorway network. If driving from the UK, the quickest route from Calais goes via Reims, Dijon, Lyon and Chambery. From Chambery, continue along the A-43, through the Frejus Tunnel into Italy, carry on along the A-32 to Oulx, and then head south to the resort villages (1,000kms; 10 hours).

If travelling by train, there are numerous daily connections from London to Paris, by Eurostar. The most convenient option from Paris is the direct Milan-bound overnight express. From Milan, there is a regular service to Turin, and on to Bardonecchia. Eurolines buses also go to Turin from various European cities, from where local services go to the villages of Cesana Torinese.
