Combloux is located 210kms east of Lyon and 65kms southeast of Geneva in the Haute Savoie region of the French Alps. There are numerous options for getting to Combloux, but it is only directly accessible by car. Rail travel from London to Geneva is convenient as is self-drive, but the most convenient and practical way to get here is to fly to Geneva and take a bus.
Geneva-Cointrin is the nearest airport and irregular trains (two to three changes; two hours) go via Geneva to Sallanches, from where buses and taxis go to the resort. By hire car, take the A-40 and the N-205 (70kms; one hour). Annency-Meythet, Chambery and Lyon Saint-Exupery airports are also nearby if you can't find a Geneva-bound flight; buses and taxis offer transportation to Combloux ski resort.
By car, the quickest self-drive route from Calais is via Reims, Metz and Geneva along the A-26, A-31, A-36 and A-40 autoroutes. Continue along the A-40 from Geneva and follow the Combloux signs (875kms; eight hours). The journey to Combloux takes about 5 hours, 30 minutes from Paris, two hours from Lyon, and approximately one hour from Geneva.
International rail travel from London is an easy and comfortable option for getting to Combloux ski resort. Eurostar trains go from London's Waterloo station to Paris (Nord). Trains then go from the nearby Austerlitz station to Sallanches (near Combloux). You will need to take a bus or taxi from the station for the remaining eight kilometres to Combloux.
Alternatively, Eurostar offers a direct overnight service to Bourge St Maurice and Aime La Plange (south of Combloux) on Fridays and Saturdays (10 hours). Geneva is also serviced by Eurolines buses.
