Courchevel ski resort is situated in the Trois Vallees and located 200kms east of Lyon. The three main options for getting here are: flying to Geneva and transferring by train and bus, or car hire (the most convenient option); self-driving, which is popular and straightforward, owing to the excellent network of motorways; and rail travel, which is also convenient.
Geneva-Cointrin is the gateway airport and receives worldwide carriers, as well as the budget airline, Easyjet, which has numerous routes from the UK. There is a rail terminal at the airport and trains go via the city to Moutiers (near Courchevel). From here, take a local bus or a taxi. By hire car, follow the A-40 autobahn and N-212/N-90 (150kms; 2 hours, 30 minutes).
Lyon-Satolas and Chambery Aix Las-Bouns are alternative airports, and Courchevel also has a private airport.
If you're self-driving, the quickest possible route from Calais goes via Reims, Dijon, Lyon and Chambery. From here, carry on along the A-43, A-430 and local roads to Courchevel (960kms;10 hours, weather permitting). The route follows the main A-26, A-31 and A-6 autoroutes.
Eurostar trains regularly go from London to Paris (four hours) from where a TGV goes directly to Moutiers (four hours). From here, Courchevel is only 25kms away by bus or taxi. The day train departs twice weekly at 09:00 and arrives at 17:00. There is also a night train that departs at 20:00 and arrives at 06:00.
