Getting to Crested Butte Mountain, USA for your Skiing and Snowboarding Holiday

The resort of Crested Butte Mountain is situated in western Colorado in the centre of the Rocky Mountains, 350kms southwest of Denver. The resort is only directly accessible by road, but bringing your own car will invariably involve lengthy journeys. By far the quickest and most popular option is to take a domestic flight to Gunnison County Airport and transfer by shuttle bus.

Denver International is the nearest major airport, but simply flying here will leave you with a long transfer. Flights are available from here and other US cities with major carriers to Gunnison County Airport (45kms south of Crested Butte Village), from where free shuttle buses await every flight.

If you’re driving from Gunnison Airport, take route 135 to Crested Butte, from where route 317 goes to Crested Butte Mountain resort. From Denver International Airport, head west along I-70 to Glenwood Springs, from where highway 82 goes south to Carbondale. From there, take routes 133, 3 and 317 to the resort (390kms; four to five hours).

Denver can also be reached by Amtrak trains and Greyhound Lines buses from around the country. There is a free shuttle service within Crested Butte that serves the resort and other nearby locations.
