Diamond Peak is located on the California-Nevada border and is only 56kms from Reno. Most visitors fly into Reno-Tahoe International Airport and then either hire a car or take a hotel shuttle bus for the 30-minute journey to the resort.
Reno-Tahoe International Airport has more than a hundred non-stop flights a day from international destinations and various parts of the US. Transfer options include bus or car only. For those with cars, Diamond Peak is on highway 28 in Nevada, on Lake Tahoe’s east side.
Visitors driving from Reno are advised to take highway 431 (Mt Rose Highway) to highway 28 in Incline Village. Take a left on to highway 28. Take another left on to Country Club drive, and then turn right on to Ski Way; Diamond Peak is at the top of Ski Way. Drivers from South Lake Tahoe can take highway 50 to highway 28 to Incline Village; from there, turn right on Country Club and then turn right on Ski Way.
Visitors coming from Oakland and Chicago, and destinations covered by the train line in between, can take the Amtrak train as far as Reno and then transfer as recommended.
Most major hotels around the resort run shuttle buses from the airport. Visitors are advised to check when booking. Public bus services do not run directly to the resort but to nearby destinations, and might be an option if combined with a taxi journey. The Sierra Nevada Gray Lines company runs a service between Reno and Alpine Meadows as well as to Northstar-at-Tahoe.
