Discovery Basin is located near Anaconda in the southwest of Montana, 140kms southeast of Missoula, along the Pintlar Scenic Route. Self-drive is fairly straightforward as Discovery Basin isn’t far from I-90; however, the easiest way here is to fly to Bert Mooney Airport and hire a car or transfer by taxi/bus combination (weekend bus only).
The nearest major airports are in Seattle and Salt Lake City, and there are onward connections to Bert Mooney Airport (in Butte) with Delta and Alaska/Horizon Airlines. Alternatively, Missoula County Airport (150kms northeast) is linked with Salt Lake City, Seattle, Denver, Minneapolis and Boise. Car hire offers the fastest transfer option, while Butte is connected to Discovery by bus on weekends.
By car from Missoula, take I-90 east to exit 153 at Drummond and head south down highway 1 towards Philipsburg. Continue on to Georgetown Lake, where you need to make a left turn for Discovery resort. From Bert Mooney Airport and Butte, take highway 2 to Butte and I-90 west to exit 208, from where highway 1 goes to Georgetown Lake and the resort.
