Getting to Flims / Laax / Falera, Switzerland for your Skiing and Snowboarding Holiday

Flims-Laax-Falera ski resort is located in the region of Graubünden, not far from Chur, and 140kms southeast of Zürich. The resort is only accessible by road but there are good train connections from Zürich, and road access is also good. The most practical way to get here is to fly to Zürich and transfer by train/bus. There are good rail connections from London and self-drive is along major motorways.

The closest airport is Zürich International Airport and there are two trains an hour, going via Zürich, and Chur, from where a Postbus goes to Flims, Laax or Falera (2 hours, 15 minutes). There are between one and three changes on each rail transfer to the resort. The most convenient transfer option is to hire a car at the airport.

The journey by car from Calais bypasses the cities of Reims, Metz, Strasbourg, Basel and Zürich. From Zürich, travel east and south on the A-3/13 autobahns, exiting on to route 19 for Reichenau and Flims-Laax-Falera. Do not try to approach Laax, Falera and Flims from the west as the Oberalp pass is closed in the winter. From Zürich International Airport, take the A-11 (south) through the city and on to the A-3/13 for Chur, and then follow the signs.

Several trains a day leave from London and connect with Chur, with up to five changes and taking from 13 to 20 hours. A convenient connection has a Eurostar departing London (Waterloo) at 07:43 for Brussels (Midi), arriving at 11:03. Change here to the 12:15 EuroCity train for Chur that arrives at 21:45. The Postbus leaves Chur at 22:00 for Flims-Laax-Falera (30 to 45 minutes). The total journey time is roughly 14 hours.
