Gstaand ski resort is located in the region of Bern, near Lake Geneva, and has rail access to Zürich and Geneva airports, and the city of Bern. The most popular way to get here is to fly to Zürich and take a train from the airport, via Spiez and Zweisimmen. London, by train, is less than 10 hours away and self-drive is also popular.
The closest major airport is Bern-Belp Airport, but Zürich International Airport has the most flight options, and better rail connections. There are two trains per hour from Zürich Airport, taking nearly four hours to get to Gstaad. Geneva-Cointrin Airport is an alternative, but trains are less flexible and convenient than Zürich departures.
By car from Calais, the quickest route bypasses the cities of Reims, Dijon, Lausanne and Montreux. From Montreux, keep driving south on the A-9 autobahn and exit (east) on to route 11 for Gstaad (nine hours; 850kms). From Zürich Airport, take the bypass and head for Bern on the A-1 autobahn. From Bern, take the A-6 (Bern-Thun) autobahn, then exit on to route 11, past Thun, for Gstaad. The route from Geneva follows the A-1 and A-9 autobahns, and on to route 11 for Gstaad.
Gstaad is on the local train line connecting Interlaken with Montreux and several smaller towns in central-southwest Switzerland. About a dozen trains come into Gstaad every day from both of those cities, each of which is a railway junction with good connections to the rest of Switzerland.
There are several trains which link up from London daily, with between three and five train changes taking from 9 to 17 hours. A good connection has the 09:09 Eurostar leaving Waterloo station and arriving in Paris (Nord). From the nearby gare de Lyon a high-speed TGV goes to Geneva, from where an Interregional train goes to Montreux, and then a fast train goes on to Gstaad, arriving at 19:45.
