Getting to Hafjell, Norway for your Skiing and Snowboarding Holiday

Hafjell ski resort is located 180kms north of Oslo in the region of Oppland and is straightforward to get to. The quickest way here is to fly to Oslo and transfer by hire car, or utilise the more practical rail and bus combination transfer. Self-drive from the UK can be an arduous journey, whereas rail travel is more efficient.

The nearest international airport is Oslo’s Gardermoen Airport and there are regular daily return flights here from the UK and other world cities. There is a rail terminal near the airport with direct services to Lillehammer throughout the day. From Lillehammer, it’s a short ride to Hafjell ski resort by Skibus.

If you’re self-driving from the UK, the car ferry from Newcastle to Bergen is by far the best alternative, as opposed to the Calais, Antwerp, Essen and Hamburg option. From Bergen, on the west coast, the 400-kilometre, seven-hour journey takes in highway 7, highway 33, route 250 and the E-6 north.

Travelling by train from European destinations is possibly a better option than driving, with the availability of the Brussels–Copenhagen overnighter. There is a regular connecting train from Copenhagen to Oslo, from where frequent services run to Lillehammer. If travelling from the UK, take the Brussels-bound Eurostar from Waterloo station in London.
