Getting to Heavenly, USA for your Skiing and Snowboarding Holiday

Heavenly ski resort is located on the southern shore of Lake Tahoe, near the towns of South Lake Tahoe (California) and Stateline (Nevada), and 90kms southwest of Reno. If you’re in the San Francisco area, driving will be straightforward; while flying to Reno-Tahoe International Airport and taking your hotel shuttle is the easiest way to get here.

Reno-Tahoe International Airport is the nearest major airport and receives over a hundred non-stop flights a day from various parts of the country; while Lake Tahoe Airport, near South Lake Tahoe, has limited service from California. Buses and hotel shuttles run to South Lake Tahoe and the resort from both airports. Tahoe Casino Express runs 18 times daily between the Reno Airport and South Shore.

By car, the journey from Reno to Heavenly is about a 1 hour, 10 minute-drive along highways 395 and 50; while San Francisco is about four hours away on highway 50. In adverse weather, the California Highway Patrol will not permit drivers without chains or a four-wheel-drive to pass.

You can travel as far as Reno by train, from where you’ll need to take a shuttle bus or hire a car. Reno is on the busy Chicago-San Francisco Amtrak line and receives frequent traffic in either direction. Greyhound buses also serve Reno.
