High Montafon ski resort is situated deep within the Montafon Valley in Vorarlberg province and is best accessed by flying to Innsbruck (from Austrian and other major European cities only) and taking the Skibus. A more practical option is to fly to Zürich International Airport and hire a car. There is a train connection with London, while many people prefer to drive all the way to High Montafon.
Zürich has the closest international airport, which is popular with budget carriers and those arriving from world destinations. There is a rail terminal at the airport, with regular trains to Bludenz all day; two trains per hour go on to Schruns, from where you'll have to take a bus or taxi. Munich's FJ Strauss Airport is another option, with train and bus transfers available.
By car, High Montafon ski resort is just over 1,000kms from Calais using quality tolled motorways. St Gallenkirch is 625kms west of Vienna and 165kms southeast of Zürich. If you're driving from Zürich International Airport, take the A-1 autobahn east and the A-13/14 autobahns to Bludenz. From Bludenz, take the B-188 all the way to High Montafon.
Options for train travel from London to Zürich involve an overnight train from Paris' gare de Lyon and an earlier Eurostar train to Paris; alternatively from Paris, a TGV also goes from gare de Lyon to Zürich. Trains leave London's Waterloo Station at 17:09 for the overnight option and arrive in Zürich the next day at 06:20. The TGV option has the Eurostar leaving London at 10:29 and arriving in Zürich at 22:40.
Several trains leave for Bludenz per day; from there you need to change to a Schruns-bound train, and then take the bus or taxi to High Montafon.
