La Chapelle d'Abondance ski resort is near the Swiss border, only 66kms east of Geneva, and is easy enough to get to. Most travellers fly to Geneva and take the Skibus to La Chapelle, or a combination of train and bus. Self-drive is made easy by the excellent network of motorways in the region and rail travel is also efficient and popular.

The nearest international airport is Geneva-Cointrin Airport, receiving a multitude of flights, both scheduled and charter services. A Skibus runs to La Chapelle d'Abondance from the airport and a train service goes to Thonon-les-Bains, from where coaches carry on to the resort. Those travelling by hire car should take the N-5 to Thonon-les-Bains and the D-902 and D-22 to La Chapelle.

The Geneva region is well-serviced by the European motorway network and La Chapelle is only 30 minutes from the A-9 autobahn in Switzerland. The most efficient route from the UK has the ferry running from Dover to Calais, or the Channel Tunnel to Calais, from where a series of autoroutes run through Reims, Dijon, Lausanne and Montreux. Continue south on the A-9, and then exit west on to route 201 to La Chapelle d'Abondance. From Calais, the journey is 830kms and about nine hours.

If you’re travelling by train from the UK, there is a regular Eurostar service to Paris from London’s Waterloo station running through Ashford in Kent. TGV high-speed trains then make the journey between Paris and Thonon-les-Bains in just 4 hours, 30 minutes. Coaches run to La Chapelle d’Abondance from there.
