Getting to La Grave, France for your Skiing and Snowboarding Holiday

La Grave is 80kms east of Grenoble and 240kms south of Geneva, and is only directly accessible by road. Travel options include international rail travel via Grenoble, self-drive, and the most common option of flying to Geneva and transferring by bus.

The nearest international airport is Lyon-Satolas, which is connected to its city every 20 minutes by bus. Buses go from here to Grenoble, from where you need to take another bus to La Grave. Hiring a car is much more convenient. Geneva-Cointrin Airport is farther away but has a rail terminal and links to Grenoble.

Self-driving from Calais involves a 940-kilometre journey of about nine hours (weather permitting). The best route takes in the cities of Reims, Dijon, Lyon and Grenoble. From Grenoble, drive south along the A-480 and exit on to the N-85 leading on to the N-91 for La Grave. La Grave is 166kms (two hours) from Lyon-Satolas, via the A-48, and 240kms (three hours) from Geneva-Cointrin Airport.

Regular Eurostar trains go from London (Waterloo) to Paris (Nord), from where high-speed TGV trains go from gare de Lyon for Grenoble. Most major French cities are linked by TGV with Grenoble. There are frequent coaches from Grenoble railway station to La Grave. Eurolines buses also go from London Victoria Coach Station to Grenoble.
