Getting to La Rosiere, France for your Skiing and Snowboarding Holiday

Linked with the Italian resort of La Thuile, La Rosiere is near the Italian border with several options for getting there. The most practical option is to take a flight to Geneva and take the Skibus direct to the resort. Self-drive is attractive due to the proximity of the European motorway network, and international rail travel will get you to within 20kms of the resort.

The nearest airport is Chambery; however, Geneva and Lyon offer more flight options from low cost and international carriers. There is a Skibus that goes from Geneva-Cointrin Airport to La Rosiere, as well as a train and bus combination. By hire car, from Geneva-Cointrin Airport, La Rosiere is accessible via the A-40 autobahn, N-205 and the SS-26 (137kms; two hours).

Self-drive from the UK usually involves a Dover-Calais ferry crossing and the quickest route from Calais goes via Reims, Dijon and Annemasse (Geneva). From here, take the A-40 autobahn south, as above (950kms; nine hours).

Several Eurostar trains a day go from London (Waterloo) to Paris, from where a high-speed TGV from Paris goes direct to Bourg St Maurice. From here, La Rosiere is an easy bus or taxi ride away. Another option in the winter from London is the Eurostar overnighter to Bourge St Maurice and Aime La Plange, on Fridays and Saturdays.
