Located in the south of France in the Pyrénées mountains, Luz Ardiden ski resort is only accessible by road, with a rail station and international airport nearby. The most convenient way to get here is to fly to Tarbes-Ossun-Lourdes Airport and hire a car. There is a train connection between London and Lourdes and self-drive is also very popular.
The nearest international airport is Tarbes-Ossun-Lourdes Airport. Regular buses and shuttles go to Lourdes train station (12kms to the south) from where SNCF shuttles go to Luz Ardiden four times a day. Hiring a car at the airport is the fastest and most comfortable transfer option. The alternative airport is Toulouse-Blagnac, with several trains from Toulouse to Lourdes throughout the day.
Self-drive from Calais involves a two-day journey along 1,180kms of mainly tolled autoroutes. From Calais, the main highways to follow are the A-1, A-20, and A-64. From Tarbes-Ossun-Lourdes Airport take the N-21 and D-921 (43kms/45 minutes). Follow the A-64, N-21, and D-921 from Toulouse-Blagnac Airport to Luz-Saint-Sauveur (208kms/two hours, 30 minutes).
The route by rail from London involves several connections, with the most convenient being the 05:34 Eurostar departure from Waterloo station. The Eurostar arrives in Paris, Nord with a change to Paris’s Montparnasse 1 ET 2 station for the 10:10 TGV (Paris-Lourdes) train. From Lourdes, change to an SNCF coach, going via Pierrefitte Nestalas, where you need to change to another Luz-Saint-Sauveur-bound coach (arrival time:17:03).
