Getting to Malbun / Steg, Switzerland for your Skiing and Snowboarding Holiday

Malbun / Steg ski resort is located in the south of Liechtenstein, near the capital, Vaduz. There are no airports or railways in Liechtenstein and access is chiefly by car or bus from Switzerland. There is a lengthy rail/bus combination connection from London, while self-drive is a lot more convenient. The quickest way here is to fly to Zürich and hire a car.

The nearest major airport is Zürich International Airport, from where there are train/bus combinations to Malbun, taking from three to eight hours and with three to five changes via Zürich/Sargans (trains), and then Vaduz/Malbun (buses). By hire car, Malbun / Steg ski resort is accessible along the (A-3) Sargans and A-13 autobahns. Drive east from the A-13 to Malbun (130kms; 1 hour, 30 minutes).

The quickest route by car from Calais goes along major autoroutes and autobahns (motorways), via the cities of Reims, Metz, Strasbourg, Basel, Zurich and Sargans (960kms; nine hours). Motorway tolls are expensive but offer the most convenient alternative.

A train connection from London is not very convenient and will take between 15 and 20 hours, with four or five changes, including two buses. The most convenient connection is the overnight train from Paris (Est) to Landquart; there is a Eurostar leaving Waterloo station for Paris at 17:42. There is another train from Landquart to Sargans, from where a bus goes to Vaduz, and then to Malbun.
