Molines is 160kms southeast of Grenoble in the Haute-Alpes, near the Italian border, and is pretty remote and only directly accessible by car. The quickest way to get here is to fly to Grenoble and hire a car, while international rail travel (to within 30kms of Molines) is possible, and self-drive is also feasible.
The closest airport is Turin’s Casselle and it offers a quicker transfer time, if you hire a car, than Grenoble’s Aeroport de Grenoble-Saint-Geoirs. Molines is accessible via the A-32, SS-24 and D-902; the journey takes two hours. From Grenoble-Saint-Geoirs shuttles go to Grenoble, from where trains go to Mont-Dauphin train station, and buses and taxis go to Molines.
By road, Molines is 727kms from Paris, 263kms from Marseille and 266kms from Lyon and is fairly remote, but it is relatively close to the A-32 autostrada, which is linked to the European motorway network. If driving from the UK, you will need to cross the channel by ferry or Channel Tunnel. The quickest route from Calais then goes via Reims, Dijon, Lyon and Chambery.
From Chambery, the A-43 continues into Italy, via the Frejus Tunnel, to become the A-32. Exit on to the SS-24 (south) at Oulx to Briancon in France, from where the D-902 heads for Molines (1,060kms; at least 10 hours).
By train from the UK, several Eurostar trains bound for Paris leave Waterloo station every day, from where there is a service to Grenoble, via Lyon, from gare de Lyon. From Grenoble, you will need to make several changes to get to Mont-Dauphin, from where buses go to Molines.
