Montana Snowbowl is located 22kms north of Missoula and is only directly accessible by road. Most travellers prefer to fly to Missoula International Airport and hire a car or take advantage of the free shuttle bus that runs on weekends and holidays from the city. Missoula is served by I-90 and several other highways, making self-drive straightforward.
Missoula International Airport receives flights from across the US and London, (UK) via Delta, Northwest and SkyWest, among others, and is only a few kilometres from downtown. ‘Lewis and Clark Trail Adventures’ operates a free shuttle bus from mid-December on weekends and on holidays. By car, take I-90 west to exit 101 on to Grant Creek road. Follow this road for six kilometres and turn left on to Snowbowl road for the resort.
If you’re self-driving, I-90 leads into Missoula from the west (Washington state and Idaho) and the east (Billings and Bozeman). From Salt Lake City, I-15 leads up through Idaho and intersects with I-90 at Butte.
The bus terminal in Missoula is served by Greyhound for national travel and Rimrock Stages for intrastate services. From the west, there is a daily 10:30 Greyhound service from Seattle (11 hours); while from the east, Greyhound departs Chicago at 09:30 and arrives in Missoula 34 hours later.
