Located in the region of Bern, southeast of the capital, Bern, and 150kms south of Zürich, Murren ski resort is reachable by rail and is near to the European motorway network. The most convenient way to get to Murren is to fly to Zürich and take a regular train, changing at Interlaken and Lauterbrunnen.
The nearest major airport is Bern-Belp, but Zurich International Airport has the most flight options and better train connections. There are regular trains to Murren that take just under four hours, with a change at Interlaken and Lauterbrunnen. Alternative airports are Basel-Mulhouse and Geneva-Cointrin, the latter having better transfer options.
By car, Murren ski resort is 920kms (nine hours) from Calais, via Reims, Metz, Strasbourg, Basel, Bern and Interlaken. From Interlaken, drive south along route 9 for the resort. From Zürich International Airport, bypass the city and head for Lucerne along the A-4 autobahn, and then Thun, along the A-8; from here, head south at Interlaken for Murren (156kms; two hours).
Train connections from London can be inconvenient, with up to eight changes and a 19 hour journey. The most convenient connection is the 08:12 from Waterloo station to Paris (Nord). A TGV then goes on to Lausanne from Paris (gare de Lyon). After Lausanne, there are another three changes (Bern, Interlaken and Lauterbrunnen). The train arrives in Murren at 20:27 (total trip time is 11 hours, 15 minutes).
