Located about 130kms east of Montréal and lying near the Vermont/Québec border, Owl’s Head ski resort is only directly accessible by road. The quickest way here is to fly to Montréal-Dorval International Airport and hire a car; while self-drive is feasible from other Canadian and northeastern US cities.
Montréal-Dorval International Airport is the nearest major airport and receives numerous flights from within Canada and the US, as well as direct from the UK. Bus transfers are available from Montréal bus station to Owl’s Head; alternatively, by hire car, take highway 10 to Eastman and from exit 106 head south on road 245 and 243.
By road from Ottawa, take highways 417 and 40 to Montréal, from where route 10 goes to Eastman, and then head south, as above (325kms; four hours). If travelling from New York, take I-91 all the way to the border at Derby Line, from where route 55 goes to Magog, route 10 goes to Eastman and routes 245 and 243 go to Owl’s Head (670kms; seven hours).
Canada’s VIA railway network connects the major cities with Montréal and certain US cities. From Toronto, there are five trains per day, including a night train. The 08:15 from New York’s Penn station arrives in Montréal at 18:30. Buses and taxis are available for the transfer.
Canada’s Greyhound buses run between Québec City, Ottawa, Toronto and Montréal, while services from the US are with Greyhound Lines.
